An Idea Whose Time Has Come

It is with great pleasure and excitement that we launch the Nonprofit Repositioning Fund for Greater Philadelphia (‘the Fund’). The Fund has been in development for some time, and builds upon experience that many of our founding Members have had investing in nonprofit collaborations, both here and across the nation.   I was compelled to join the Fund this summer because of its focus on making the consideration of formal collaborations a routine practice of nonprofit governance and leadership. My experiences as a grantmaker, nonprofit leader, consultant, and lecturer on nonprofit governance all convince me that the time could not be more right for creative support to local agencies exploring strategic repositioning activities as a means to foster sustainable high performance.   Over-subscribed attendance at the recent Philadelphia Social Innovations Journal event, “Innovation Through Collaboration and Partnerships” , or record participation in Nonprofit Issue’s recent webinar, “Mergers, Acquisitions and Affiliations” are among the indicators that these issues are very much on people’s minds in the Greater Philadelphia region.   I look forward to working with nonprofit board and staff leadership, as well as technical assistance providers (facilitators, strategy consultants, attorneys, financial experts) to strengthen our region’s capacity – and imagination – for wise collaboration to enhance and expand service delivery. As a lifelong Philadelphian, I am very proud to have this opportunity to invest and create with you in the region.
